00:01:09: That's right, it is the Wiesen season which means every single cafe restaurant or bar will have cheap pixelated cardboard cutouts.

00:01:22: Um, and they have never seemingly found one graphic designer in the entire country that can make one that looks nice.

00:01:31: And not like an overworked and exhausted ninth grade English teacher making a flyer The night before she has assigned all of her students to do a presentation on this scarlet letter.

00:01:45: That's right.

00:01:46: someone just figured out how to use Microsoft Paint Word and Excel And they're bad at it.

00:01:52: So we have a really fun episode today.

00:01:55: I Have a few different websites pulled up We are gonna get into mostly Oktoberfest At least the start.

00:02:02: you Know that uh, i'm A rambler and not in the cool way?

00:02:44: at Oktoberfest, we have some things like classic sort of tropes or mistakes.

00:02:49: Things you should know if you are gonna go and things that you should... ...know because your here!

00:04:22: It's the dessert it's a breakfast or it said-it's a desert?

00:04:24: That's NOT A LUNCH MEAL.

00:04:26: don't do that!

00:04:26: I HATED KAIZASHMAN DAYS.

00:04:28: but...as a breakfast Or fun little afternoon snack..or a dessert It say okay That's.

00:04:36: yeah, I'm gonna do go to Kaiserslautern.

00:04:38: Do like these four or five military shows.

00:04:41: So i've been working on a lot of new stand-up and some Of the material that i've Been working very hard On for these shows.

00:06:32: I've done an episode a couple of episodes ago.

00:06:35: I think about About stopping my alcohol consumption and what that has led to is An odd addiction.

00:06:45: two other things not in addition, but i drink so many red bulls now It's it's absurd.

00:08:39: so The website we're Going To start with today is called my Vandalosti life My Wanderlusty Life WanderLustee.

00:08:49: I think there Could Have Been A More Creative Name for the Website.

00:08:53: The word, the people toss around the world like wanderlust.

00:08:57: You know this.

00:08:58: if you don't know that word it's a German word.

00:09:00: That kind of means Like...you Know the deep sort of urge to travel and explore and expand And I need to travel.

00:09:09: It's Germans have A lot cool individual words That mean more complex human needs or desires Which is..that's Cool.

00:09:19: But Wander like you know my what.

00:09:24: that will be a good comparison.

00:09:25: It's just like my My.

00:09:28: so I don't know who cares?

00:09:29: My wonder lusty life, I just don't like the lust part.

00:09:32: But that's just how it is Like I lost wandering.

00:09:37: Here's number one from wanderlusty.

00:09:40: They say do not turn up in the wrong city.

00:09:44: i gotta admit You Know i did not expect That to Be The Number One.

00:09:50: Number one thing that you would put into.

00:09:56: what not to do at Oktoberfest and the starts with asterisks saying like shake in my head.

00:10:04: Unfortunately, yes going through The Wrong City is definitely something to avoid.

00:10:09: At this year's oktoberfest What are you talking about lusty?

00:10:14: But yeah, we also don't take the wrong airplane like oh I was supposed to go to Amsterdam and I'm in Puerto Rico dude.

00:10:21: No that was like step one on the list.

00:10:25: Okay October Fest is uh The main event is in Munich.

00:10:29: Uh but i accidentally took a train to Dresden.

00:10:34: Man dang it man.

00:10:37: Wow Yeah if you are traveling to Germany for Oktoberfest and you go the wrong city?

00:10:46: You've lost!

00:10:47: You have to go home.

00:10:50: Go

00:10:51: Home?!

00:10:52: Okay, they say do not turn up in October again like this is-this isn't about what things did NOT do inside of the festival.

00:11:03: that's what I'm looking for right now.

00:11:05: it's like okay thanks to NOT do INSIDE THE MAIN EVENT of Munich, one the most famous festivals in the world.

00:11:12: that happens in Munich right here.

00:11:14: You know?

00:11:14: Number One don't go to Hamburg!

00:11:17: That's not where it happens.

00:11:20: and number two Don't show up in October.

00:11:25: If you're traveling... To Oktober- if your'e travelling to Coachella or Bonnaroo Or New Years Eve or Christmas time In New York City Your gonna look up The dates.

00:11:39: You're gonna look up the event, you are not going to plan some events in a city that you don't live or even if do live here!

00:11:52: Yes, Oktoberfest starts at the end of September.

00:11:56: It just started on the nineteenth of September and it goes into The first week of October.

00:12:02: It used to start in October But over time, but has been shifted too earlier In the year to try and still hold onto some of the sunnier warmer weather Okay?

00:12:13: But who wouldn't look at up?

00:12:14: if one more of these is not about something inside this event I'm leaving this website.

00:12:22: okay This ones fair.

00:12:24: Don't buy quote-unquote, Oktoberfest tickets from anyone.

00:12:30: This person says I talk more about this in some other posts that they made but i'll summarize it here.

00:12:35: oktoberfest is a free event.

00:12:36: there are new tickets wristbands day passes or any such nonsense you have to buy In order to attend.

00:12:43: That's true!

00:12:45: I would imagine people being at the main entrance gate with all of security and everything.

00:12:56: And then thinking that you actually need to have a ticket, maybe you missed... You know?

00:13:01: The website or the link That you might've made some mistake!

00:13:04: I would assume i'd make some mistakes.

00:13:07: But At this same time Being convinced To buy the tickets..I Would've done it quick.

00:13:11: Google.

00:13:13: Y'know what I mean?

00:13:15: Y'Know What I

00:13:15: Mean?!

00:13:16: I WOULD'VE JUST DONE A QUICK GOOG On that.

00:13:18: BUT There's a chance.

00:13:20: There's a chance that in some world or some age, I've been.

00:13:24: That would have thought i needed to take it and didn't want spoil the day.

00:13:30: The only thing you pay for at the Oktoberfest is food.

00:13:32: You eat beer you drink souvenirs also games & rides If you wanna go on ferris wheels roller coaster if there was an older section of The Oktoberfest that is called the Oedivisen.

00:13:50: It's called like old Oktober fest and everything has preserved as it was a long time ago.

00:13:57: I want to say, like eighteen hundreds maybe seventeen hundred?

00:14:01: I don't know.

00:14:02: Like all the kids.

00:14:03: toys are very old wood and everything.

00:14:05: they really do A cool job of that in there And you do have to pay To get into That.

00:14:10: but its pretty clear.

00:14:11: Its like getting Into.

00:14:12: It's like getting into a zoo or some sort of theme park.

00:14:16: Like there is an admissions stand with a line, so that makes it clear.

00:14:23: So yeah don't buy tickets this true.

00:14:25: do not try to save seats in a beer tent.

00:14:28: Hmm oh I see.

00:14:30: okay attempting To Save Seats In A Beer Tent Or Hog An Entire Table Is Huge On The List Of What Not To Do.

00:14:38: This Is Fair.

00:14:39: i mean You Can Save A Spot.

00:14:41: You can maybe save a spot or two next to you, like if your friends are literally just in the bathroom.

00:14:45: Or they're coming behind you.

00:14:49: I think it's even more... Okay first off this isn't black-or-white here right?

00:14:53: A lot of rules have nuance.

00:14:54: If you were at the debut opening when people run into thousands and thousands of people waiting for them And you know in whatever beer tent that they want.

00:15:09: Yes, seating will be limited on things like that depending on the tent.

00:15:13: Depending on the time of day and it.

00:15:15: You know It's very common to have strangers, you know Very-very common to Have strangers seated along your table.

00:15:23: However In a lot Of other parts too there are There's plenty of space and also depending On The Time of Day.

00:15:32: I've Never really had a situation where I wasn't seated at least mostly If not entirely with the people.

00:15:41: I came with it just doesn't really.

00:15:42: It's not that big of a deal, I get like if you're running into a crowded tent That you can obviously throw a bunch of coats down and just hold a table?

00:15:51: That ain't happening Like he is not.

00:15:53: even that you think it's a no-no like you make you just thank.

00:15:56: good luck.

00:15:57: You've just lost five coats like No one's gonna care about that at all.

00:16:03: Um, let's see what the next one is a huge website?

00:16:07: You know.

00:16:08: when I don't like it by websites like this Is its...I have to scroll Like literally like a full page.

00:16:13: scroll like three times in between each number on the list.

00:16:17: It's insane.

00:16:18: do not try to pay with a credit card.

00:16:21: you Know.

00:16:22: of course That's getting a bit more modernized but i would say that as a fair thing To keep in mind just..i mean At the beer at the beer tables, you know in like high traffic kind of chaotic areas Yeah.

00:16:39: You know just can't go wrong with cash.

00:16:41: Just have it on.

00:16:41: you Know how much you have on?

00:16:45: Keep it in a place that won't fall out If you get too drunk or if you get bumped by people A lot of people you know there's a good chance to maybe get.

00:16:54: It doesn't really happen I'm sure as has happened but it would be a good place to be like pickpocketed People, you know their inhibitions are lowered.

00:17:01: They're very distracted.

00:17:03: You Know little purses left on tables maybe someone's back pocket.

00:17:07: they peed and then there were little pockets hanging out because Someone did something.

00:17:11: so?

00:17:11: You know put your money where it won't fall out And make no how much you've try to keep track of How Much you've spent most importantly Because you're gonna be spending only cash.

00:17:23: put a limit on that.

00:17:25: Like there are ATMs, but if you're drinking and it's so noisy and chaotic and loud and fun know how much you took out.

00:17:32: like definitely keep track of.

00:17:34: oh I've just spent whatever three hundred bucks because when that one that's out trying... It was going to a casino kind of no your limit or what?

00:17:44: You-it's a lot!

00:17:44: And some people go several days.

00:17:47: Oh my god This is number six.

00:17:50: Is another one of those things where it's like if you think that You can do this don't show up It's just research.

00:18:00: ask around.

00:18:00: Number six says, Do not try to pay with US dollars.

00:18:04: Yeah No shit!

00:18:05: Don't play with us dollars.

00:18:07: What are you talking about?

00:18:09: what're you talking About?

00:18:11: you know Like my parents had never Visited Germany until a few years ago.

00:18:17: I mean, why would they otherwise right like if?

00:18:19: If i wasn't here They wouldn't visit here but like they hadn't traveled outside of their country Their home country Until a few Years ago when they visited me and my mom asked questions And that's what you do.

00:18:35: i just don't.

00:18:36: You know she didn't end.

00:18:37: you know She Didn't ask this about us dollars.

00:18:40: I Just think Like That's No, yeah, I Mean My god, I'm sorry.

00:18:44: Just-I have to remember that there are just people who would do that and... That's insane to me!

00:19:18: I could imagine going to most of these places.

00:19:20: you can have your euros but then go Switzerland and you cant use that.

00:19:29: or what's the... oh yeah you're in the UK!

00:19:45: Anyway number seven also important just for any Any gastronomical sort of situation your in?

00:19:52: Any restaurant any bar anytime you're served by a person that says don't forget to tip.

00:19:57: Of course Don't Forget To Tip.

00:20:00: Tipping.

00:20:00: culture isn't as prevalent in Europe, but you always tip the servers.

00:20:06: And rule of thumb... This is coming from me.

00:20:11: You want to tip high when first get seated.

00:20:17: Everyone does that.

00:20:18: now It's not if it was some secret But you wanna tip high on your first round at a new table Because you want the waitress know that you're, it's kind of a sign-of respect and she'll treat ya good.

00:20:36: She'll come by regularly y'know?

00:20:38: It's not.

00:20:39: they don't come by regularly semi... Y'know They come by pretty regularly no matter what.

00:20:43: but I mean if your NOT tipping or if you are tipping very little.. I mean c'mon there is ten thousand people in the tent.

00:20:50: do think their gonna to buy your table.

00:20:52: Or keep you in mind Make sure you've got full drinks regularly?

00:20:56: I wouldn't!

00:20:56: I have been a waiter.

00:20:57: i would say man That table sucks.

00:21:00: Number eight, don't wait until you get into the vision to get cash.

00:21:04: Yeah I mean they have.

00:21:05: that makes sense.

00:21:07: there's high exchange not exchange rates.

00:21:09: what it called like them interest The cut my what is a call?

00:21:14: Like when the when the bank the ATM takes a cut of whatever.

00:21:18: You take out this like their fee.

00:21:20: idea the ATM fees the atm fees inside of any major event.

00:21:25: You know just use common sense.

00:21:27: Of course the bank fees are going to be exorbitant.

00:21:44: It's gonna Keep my self from doing it into the microphone, but I'm getting a little cold and i don't want to.

00:21:53: um...I don't wanna do in the mic.

00:21:55: Im trying not too if that does happen.

00:21:56: I apologize in advance.

00:21:59: Number nine Do Not Try To Bring A Big Bag Into Oktoberfest.

00:22:03: Yeah this is okay.

00:22:04: This Is Actually A Very Fair A Very Very Fair.

00:22:08: Um.

00:22:09: Good Note To Keep In Mind Don't Do This At Oktober Fest!

00:22:13: Generally, I think going to any major event where you're gonna be walking around a good bit changing locations A Good Bit surrounded by a lot of people.

00:22:21: You don't want to have some big heavy clunky bag with you all the time You know carrying your friends stuff in there always on your shoulder trying not to forget it.

00:22:31: It can.

00:22:31: stuff can fall out its In The Way it takes up place On The Bencher By Your Feet Or Gets Covered And Beer?

00:22:37: Its Good To Just put what you need in a ladies, maybe on the bra or may be like very small thing that stays your hand.

00:22:45: Or little skinny strap-like small snap purse thing that goes... Like Indiana Jones over the chest and shoulder around And guys can just put stuff in their pockets.

00:22:59: Some people put stuff into their socks trying, yeah try not to carry too much stuff around.

00:23:05: but also they really won't let you in if you have two big of a bag because there's the assumption that you might be trying to steal some of the big coffee glasses.

00:23:20: Because They sell those and If You Have A Huge Bag you Might Be Trying To Steal Those Or Anything Else.

00:23:26: So... You Also Might Have A Weapon In There Something That Doesn'T Really Happen.

00:23:32: But Number ten, this is interesting.

00:23:36: Do not ask for a small beer on the list of what not to do at Oktoberfest.

00:23:40: This may be one of the most embarrassing.

00:23:42: with only a couple of exceptions There's only one size of beer at oktoberfest and that Is A Leader?

00:23:48: This leader of beers called a Maas Pronounced m-o ss.

00:23:53: That's yeah moss Yeah.

00:23:55: And The glass mug it comes in as a mass Kug.

00:23:58: So You know If you're gonna go to Oktoberfest, I get this.

00:24:07: Go in and play the game!

00:24:13: Why else are you going there?

00:24:14: You don't have to only do those things but try it like... Okay..you got the big leader of beer.

00:24:22: It's too much for you.

00:24:23: Its getting a little warm at end.

00:24:25: Fine You know you tried it, but you're there.

00:24:28: You with the people everyone's doing it.

00:24:30: It's just part of the culture.

00:24:31: its part of The fun is part Of the tradition.

00:24:34: Don't don't go to a place like this and try And make it about you?

00:24:38: You Know don't Go up To the waiters At A Place Like This Is Just An.

00:24:42: It's Just A Place like it.

00:24:45: They Have Some Little Restaurants Or Food Trucks or Things Within The Enormous Festival Where they Will You Know Adhere to Certainly Some food restrictions, you know allergy restrictions.

00:24:59: You can get some smaller drinks things like that.

00:25:02: But the main and I'm not even sure if that's entirely true It's just...you have tens of hundreds of thousands millions people coming in there Like..You Just Can't Please Everybody!

00:25:15: You Have to please The Most General Mass Of People.

00:25:21: They can't make shows like Arrested Development or, you know What's another niche?

00:25:33: Oh Like a show like The Curse with Nathan Fielder Or something You Know.

00:25:36: they Can't All Make Shows For People Who Watch Those.

00:25:39: They Have To have A Festival.

00:25:41: That Are Like The Shows Like Friends Or Big Bang Theory.

00:25:44: It Just Is Kind Of A General Just Pleasing Thing for Everybody.

00:25:49: Sorry But Yeah, don't make it picky.

00:25:52: Don't go in there and ask for like you know certain They they will serve like alcohol free beers.

00:25:57: But you know It's better just to if you're not drinking.

00:25:59: Just I mean sorry If you are drinking Just get the standard things.

00:26:05: just try it.

00:26:07: Do not ask for ice yeah?

00:26:11: Don't do that again.

00:26:12: play the game.

00:26:12: skip them through that.

00:26:15: Do not try to get a drunk as fast as you can true because you know what pal It's gonna happen anyway!

00:26:22: You don't have to try and get drunk as fast you can.

00:26:26: You're getting drunk AS FAST AS YOU CAN.

00:26:30: THE MOMENT YOU SIT DOWN, because they are plying with leaders of stronger brewed beer than the beer they sell in gas stations or at supermarkets.

00:26:40: You're gonna have your feet dragged out on the pavement by a couple of security guards because you tried pissing in the mug of another person.

00:26:54: So don't have to try it'll happen.

00:26:56: Just just build it and they will come.

00:26:58: situation, you know Drink it And they will vomit.

00:27:04: God scroll scroll scroll.

00:27:05: do not forget to eat.

00:27:06: That's a big thing but same goes for literally any type of festival right?

00:27:11: Big event.

00:27:12: eat your food.

00:27:12: if you're going to drink Make sure to drink water, skipping through that.

00:27:16: Don't eat the cookies?

00:27:17: Okay true!

00:27:18: That's fair...that's a very Bavarian thing..That's not exactly what it sounds like.

00:27:25: If you've been in Munich before You have seen these giant dry as hell huge sort of tightly saran-wrapped cookies basically With this dry icing on it that basically says- It just says things.

00:27:43: Its decoration, its decoration.

00:27:45: The decorated cookies you see at the Oktoberfest are called the Leibkuchen Herzen This type of cake, Leib Kuchen and hearts.

00:27:53: They're made for giving in wearing but not really eating.

00:27:56: they don't taste good.

00:27:58: It's funny to have such an industry as decoration food.

00:28:03: Do Not Dance On The Table?

00:28:09: That is not necessarily true.

00:28:11: The later it gets the crazier.

00:28:12: It gets by mid-afternoon.

00:28:14: people are hammered.

00:28:15: true Dancing to the.

00:28:17: well, she calls it the fabulous Oktoberfest music the traditional like full band stuff is really cool And I do like that you know for there's a. There's a time and place for it in their its Absolutely the time and space for it.

00:28:31: But then there's also the tense that just blasts the most mind-numbing like trashy Euro pop stuff.

00:28:39: that just drives me crazy.

00:28:42: Oh, I see what she's saying here.

00:28:44: okay Okay She is right here.

00:28:48: Dance on the bench Like most people will.

00:47:45: okay so they were wrong about the name but It doesn't really matter to the story because people have And will continue to vomit on both.

00:47:53: Someone says their other funniest thing was watching the late night crowd.

00:47:58: try the toboggan ride.

00:48:00: Oh yeah, grab a beer at the place across the street and laugh away.

00:48:03: there are a few really funny like really funny things that you can just watch from The Main Street area.

00:48:20: And Of course There's an energy to each part of the Oktoberfest that you go, too.

00:48:25: Maybe want to just straight-to one tent stay with your friend group and Just drink and dance on the chairs and catch up and laugh And sing and then get drunk and go home.

00:48:37: That sounds like a really wonderful time.

00:48:40: With your buddies.

00:48:41: You know everyone is looking out for each other.

00:48:44: It'a rootin tootin good time.

00:48:47: Then there's also the sort of family aspect to it.

00:48:49: There is daytime events, you know certain days in a week...there are things for kids to do.

00:48:54: You can go there on an afternoon Take them into some of the sit-down restaurants inside of it order food still take part kind as part of event but not as wild or unleashed.

00:49:10: and then theres this other thing about amusement park That I've been a part of.

00:49:16: I think every time that have gone there's you know, when i would go Especially depending on who?

00:49:23: I Would Go with.

00:49:25: I would always before going home want to ride A couple Of the rides at least.

00:49:34: There was only one Time.

00:49:35: I Think I've tried Every single Ride.

00:49:37: They're At Least.

00:49:38: One Time The Only There were Two Rides.

00:49:41: Sorry There Were two Rides That I Would Never do Again.

00:49:45: One of Them I just didn't like because it actually hurt.

00:49:49: I don't know if i was just strapped in too tight or its just.

00:49:52: you know, im a big guy and the machine just slung me around to hard?

00:49:58: I dont mind things like the g-force zero gravity thing or rotating and flipping.

00:50:05: none of that really bothers me especially when ive had a beer or two.

00:50:12: I get nauseus on backseat If I don't stare at the road, or like if i look on my phone too long in back seat of anyone's car and-and dont' look forward.

00:50:34: and the car was a Tesla, it had an electric motor.

00:50:38: And that just zero to sixty of the car is so like... It just messes my stomach up so intensely!

00:50:48: The car was warm I was pouring sweat....I have to ask this guy please turn on some air.

00:50:55: He's bad driver style where instead holding more steady speed for the of the car, like with a gas pedal or I guess just the battery.

00:51:06: The go pedal instead of Just keeping sort of something steady or cruise control Or you know sometimes slowly speeding up and then kind of easing back down.

00:51:17: He was that kinda guy who would speed up a little faster than he has to And release from the from the gas.

00:51:22: so it would.

00:51:23: You know, it would almost like okay.

00:51:25: I'm gonna push above the speed limit So slowly i'm going faster but it like slows back to The speed limit that I should be going.

00:51:32: so the whole thing was Like Really?

00:51:40: He's Gonna pass somebody and you're in your being sucked In like a plane like A jet That shooting off.

00:51:47: I feel like I'm you Know Maverick like Top Gun.

00:51:52: I can do all that, but get really nauseous.

00:51:55: But then i could go to an amusement park and do some of these rides That are crazy!

00:52:03: I thought Genuinely My midsection was gonna be bruised It just flung me around way too intensely And the other one I wouldn't do, which i guess... ...I don't have to worry about now if it was sold.

00:52:25: But there's a big roller coaster on the outside!

00:52:30: Maybe I would try again but I just freaked out with it because It does like a three sixty loop.

00:53:30: oh Not because i'm scared Of it or Because Uh it hurt like Hurt me Or freaked Me out But another ride there that is at a lot of places like Six Flags or Disney World, whatever.

00:53:43: Is the Tower Of Terror Ride where you go up really high in ring-shaped formation facing out and then without warning just plummet down?

00:53:58: That's not my thing!

00:54:01: For me it seems like A LOT OF buildup for... I mean, you're paying money.

00:54:08: It's a long ride up that's very slow and then you sit there.

00:54:12: it's a nice i'm sure it's Avery cool view like a Very Cool View.

00:54:17: But Then You're Sitting There for a Very Long Time And?

00:54:21: Then You Just Suddenly Drop its A shock Its Adrenaline but it'S Like Four Seconds or Something And They Are Less.

00:54:29: and Then You'Re There and You Kind of.

00:54:30: Then You just Have to get out.

00:54:31: For me That's not Really Worth the Money.

00:54:33: I got a pretty similar experience to that kind of view and adrenaline from the ride that i took with this crazy lady, That again...I have whole story about in my first comedy special which is on youtube channel.

00:54:54: if you haven't at the end there'a a story and was stuck with this Crazy Lady On her-on a ride.

00:54:59: thats like this rotating swing set that goes up very high, and... That was a very cool view.

00:55:19: That helped me-I did have the fantasy that the chain would break and i'd like plummet to the pavement.

00:55:36: I mean if you're gonna plummet down in watch yourself getting closer To the ground, and you know?

00:56:36: obviously don't go to the wrong city.

00:56:40: plan things a little bit like look it's a party!

00:56:42: It's a big expensive party.

00:56:45: so you know just keep a little track in your phone or...you know..in some way about how much money you're spending-it's very easy to lose track of that.

00:56:54: Don't bring your credit card there and take a bunch of money out.

00:56:58: When you feel like it, that's the good way to just lose track and realize you've spent a thousand bucks borrowed money from friends.

00:57:03: they're not going to pay back.

00:57:05: You got the cab?

00:57:06: The food?

00:57:07: First two rounds.

00:57:09: Just take out certain amount And just bring that!

00:57:13: Just cap it There.

00:57:16: Definitely do that.

00:57:19: No need to pre-game before going to Oktoberfest.

00:57:23: If you're the plan is to get very drunk, they do a very good job of that.

00:57:27: They professionally Get You Very Drunk and pretty quickly.

00:57:35: I would even add two things To That List.

00:57:36: i Would Say One Like if You Go With A Friend Just You Know Keep like keep an eye on Where They Are.

00:57:46: Not like you would get lost or they would get luster that there will be a huge issue.

00:57:50: You know, it's always the possibility That they run into someone They Know Or that you Would Again Hundreds of Thousands Of People At One Time Like In A Space That It's Hard To Keep Track All The Time.
